Good Sunday, everyone. Our Saturday was as wild as advertised with high winds and severe thunderstorms sweeping across Kentucky. As the storm continues to pull away, it’s a much colder wind blowing out there today.
This wind has a chance to spit out a few snow flurries across parts of the region. The greatest threat should be across the east. The Hi Res NAM shows the flake potential on a strong northwesterly wind flow…
A few flakes, people. That’s it. 😉
Here’s regional radar to see what’s out there…
Gusty winds will make it feel like the 20s for much of the day, with wind chills in the teens showing up for some tonight into early Monday.
Thanksgiving week looks colder than normal with another front dropping in here on Tuesday. That continues to look mainly dry with a seasonal brand of cold behind it. Watch how the trough splits, allowing for a big eastern Gulf low to develop…
What happens with that system in the southeast could complicate the model forecasts in the coming days.
Temps bounce back for a day or so by Friday, ahead of the next cold air surge coming in here over the weekend. Here’s the European Model…
The European Ensembles also look frigid across much of the eastern half of the country…
I will update everything later on today. Enjoy your Sunday and take care.
Thanks Chris, We had a wind gust 65 MPH as the cold front move through our area. Very heavy rain, thunder and lighting and falling temperatures. Lost power around 6:10 PM. You did a great job tracking this storm ! Have a great Sunday.
Well, My local forecast in Huntington has sunny with 40 and 50 degree highs for the rest of the month. The cold/snow for Thanksgiving holiday disappeared quick. Most long range forecasts of Winter weather aren’t very reliable.
Stop with the wsaz crap…that’s all it is
For your info, I don’t watch WSAZ. Cavalier lost credibility with me a long time. I was referring to the Weather Underground App.
Two good things happened with high winds yesterday : we had no damage and all the leaves were blown off the lawn. I am going to put my rake away right next to my dusty snow shovel. LOL
Spent Friday – Sunday backpacking along the Big South Fork of the Cumberland River (McReary County). …warm on Friday, crazy winds Friday night/Saturday morning, Nice on Saturday and heavy storms Saturday night, dry and cold today. great weekend and great weather! We wanted a “challenge” and got one. Thanks for delivering, Chris!
