Good Tuesday, everyone. It’s a much colder day out there, with northwesterly winds ushering in a few rain and snow showers. This drop in temps will hang around a few days, then we mild it up again, then we drop it back down again. It’s a fun ride in this “halftime” of real winter.

Temps out there today top out in the upper 30s and low 40s with gusty winds making it feel colder. That northwesterly wind will also spit out some rain and snow showers…

The chance for snow showers may be a little better later tonight and early Wednesday. Can we get a rooftop duster out of this? That’s a possibility.

Thursday looks better with sunshine and temps in the 40s. Temps reach deep into the 50s on Friday, with a 60 possible. That mild air lasts into Saturday with some late day showers on the increase. That’s ahead of another cold front blasting in here on Sunday.

The Canadian is following the lead of the European Model, showing a wave of low pressure along the front…

That would be heavy rain setup, with some snow on the backside by late Sunday into Monday.

The flip back to a harsh winter pattern continues to show up strongly on the models as we head into the first week of February. The European Ensembles show a DEEP trough swinging into the eastern half of the country…

The coldest air in the Northern Hemisphere, in relation to normal, is showing up with this trough…

February looks locked and loaded, with the potential for another memorable period of winter weather on the way.

I will have updates later today. Make it a good one and take care.
