Good afternoon, folks. I wanted to drop by for a quick update on the messy system moving in tonight and the one coming in behind it later Tuesday.
The moral of the story is, I have no changes to the thoughts I’ve put out for the past few days.
Snow and a mix moves in tonight and early Sunday, with slushy accumulations possible for many. That action then ends as some light rain on Sunday, with another band of light snow entering the picture by Sunday night.
The GFS is showing a few hot spots of decent wet snow accumulations late tonight…
The Hi Res NAM is doing the same, but is more generous with the flakes for most of the area…
We also need to watch for some light freezing rain in the valleys across the east…
The radar will look busy this afternoon, but much of the stuff across Kentucky isn’t hitting the ground. That starts in the west later in the evening…
The late Tuesday-Wednesday system continues to do what we have talked about… trend south and east. The latest GFS shows this…
The Canadian is even farther south and east, putting much of Kentucky in the bullseye of winter weather…
I’m going to try to get out an evening update, but it may be later than normal. Make it a great day and take care.
I would feel more optimistic if the last Canadian run was the Euro.
Let’s see if this storm continues to trend south.
Look forward to Chris new post this evening.
Euro has not been a very good model this season. None of them have been great. Rodger’s liking the Canadian but who know where it will be next run! Rodger in Dodger
Come on Canadian!!! A lady can dream…right?!
Trending back north
Moral of the story…don’t pay attention to weather projections until 36 to 48 hrs out, rest is for show haha
Twelve hours out. Dim’ der’ models are stanky with snow forecasts.
Winter has been a bad cook. Its had all the right ingredients but cant get the recipe for snow right in central south east ky. Better luck next year. Get the peas in ground.
Kind of like the Cats 😉
High of 43 never materialized here in Floyd County. So far today only 35, and looks to drop now that sunset is approaching and there is cloud cover.
41 in BG thought it was supposed to be upper 40’s!
We made it to 46 in Knox County
Thanks Chris. I’d love to see some snow love for the whole state but…..ah well, days are getting longer so that’s worth being happy about! Have a good evening all, and please watch for ice and slick spots in the early morning if you are out and about.
Forecast low = 35, current temperature = 30.
The Cats game was stanky. CB might be trying to clear his head of the scatter Cats.
33 in my part of Knott county right now
11pm….rain is all the way up to indy…..I don’t this will produce any snow for ky.
Cats lose, snow lose, we all lose
Cards lost too
Yawn meter at 10..
Temps here in in my area of Louisville rose from 36 degrees at around 11 pm to 41 degrees now at 2 am… a big old boo to that. Rain, rain and more rain. I sure do want some winter!
Later than normal? Like 3am, night owl Chris Bailey? Don’t know if I can wait up that long.
Just joking. 2:01 am, not too late. New post up.
