Good afternoon, folks. I wanted to drop by for a quick update on the dramatic weather changes blowing in this week.  We are heading back into a wintertime pattern that will feature MUCH colder than normal temps and the potential for some of the white stuff.

In the short-term, we are tracking showers across western Kentucky. This action slowly spreads east into the evening…

This rain continues into Tuesday morning, but should quickly clear out of town. That leaves us with some sun, gusty winds and mild temps by the afternoon. Enjoy it, because that changes in a hurry by Tuesday night and Wednesday, as a bowling ball of an upper low drops in…

The end result of a system like this is usually snow showers and squalls. Watch how the rain shower action goes to the flakes for Wednesday…

Coatings are possible Wednesday and Thursday, especially in the mountains. With such a dynamic upper level system, I would not be surprised to get a thundersnow report this week.

The next system then rolls our way with rain and some snow by late Friday into Friday night…

Another “bowling ball” drops in this weekend and early next week. That could spawn another big storm system across the Ohio Valley into the eastern part of the country. The new GFS is a littler flatter than earlier runs…

I’ve got the latest on WKYT-TV starting at 4pm, so be sure to check back. BTW… it was 6 years ago today I came back to WKYT. 🙂

Another update comes your way this evening. Until then, take care.
