Good afternoon, everyone. Heavy rains have settled into the bluegrass state and will stick around through Thursday evening. This action has already dropped more than an inch of rain, with several inches to go for some areas. This sets up the continued threat for flooding and flash flooding.
A Flood Watch is now out for most of Kentucky through Thursday…
Overnight and early morning rain totals have been impressive, with several areas showing more than 1″ through 11am. Here are the Kentucky Mesonet rain numbers through that time…
If we look at how much additional rain may fall, the models are still amped up. The NAM has another 4″ for some…
The short range Canadian Model is very similar…
You put those numbers down on top of what we already have, and flooding issues will likely develop.
I will have the latest on WKYT-TV starting at 4pm and another update later this evening on KWC. Until then, track away…
Have a great afternoon and take care.
Thanks Chris. I see the news hasn’t gotten any better. Glad I wore my mud kickers today. Sounds like I may need them for the rest of the week into next week! I really hope we don’t see a lot of flooding but from the looks of the forecast, we will. I hope not In any event, pay attention to the warnings and if you see water over a roadway, please DO NOT try to cross it! Don’t want to lose any of my weather blog friends or fellow weather lovers. Have a good afternoon all, but remember to keep the rain boots and the umbrellas ready!
For some reason, at least one person will foolishly disregard warnings and either need rescue or possibly be lost to the water. Sad.
the cut off is real for se ky
Rain drops keeps falling on my head. Chris needs to do some talking to the sun.
