Good Sunday, everyone. Heavy rain continues across parts of the state to begin our day, bringing a local high water threat to some areas. Once the rains taper off later today, our focus turns toward a quick-hitting taste of winter for Monday.
Severe storms across the deep south REALLY helped us out on Saturday, zapping the energy and taking our severe threat away. Still. heavy rains may cause local issues early today. Here’s what you need to track the potential…
The rain will taper off from west to east today, with much colder air blowing in. That same cold wind may produce some flurries or snow showers later tonight into Monday. Watch the action wrapping in on the NAM future radar…
That’s a very cold wind blowing all day, keeping highs around 40 or so. Wind chills will be even colder. Ugh.
Another hard freeze is coming Tuesday morning, with readings in the middle and upper 20s.Highs by Tuesday afternoon hit the 60s for many.
Another cold front moves through later Wednesday, bringing a small chance for a thunderstorm, and another drop in temps. That should be followed by another system for next weekend. This one is taking on a chillier look, which may limit the strong storm potential.
Overall, the pattern continues to skew colder than normal for the foreseeable future..
I will have another update later today. Make it a good one and take care.
Thanks Chris for the update. Not much rain fell in my area of central Kentucky, but enough to cancel the red flag warnings. It’s Spring 1965 again. The tree foliage is still yet to make it’s appearance and the red buds are really late in blooming. If we have the snow showers forecast and much cooler weather through the middle of the week, I would have to call it #redbudwinter. Have a great day everyone.
Worst spring weather I can remember in a long time. Eventually has to be a good cycle of warm days in the near future. At least you would think that it should happen.
….definitely bad by our KY standards but even worse for the far north. Areas like Minnesota that normally have winter last into April are having extreme cold and snow for even their standards WITHOUT the warm breaks we have had. Many areas up that way have had several nights below zero and are in record cold territory for monthly averages to date! At least we also had a warm February as those poor folks have had misery since late October of last year.
Thanks Chris. Well it’s not my favorite weather but it is what it is so I guess we will make the best of it and go on. Sooner or later we will surely get some good weather….. I hope. Have a great Sunday everyone.
