Good Monday, everyone. Old Man Winter continues to overstay his welcome, bringing another round of snow showers to the region today. This goes along with temps that are obscenely below normal for the middle of April. I’m still trying to find the start of true spring, but it’s rather elusive.

Today’s snow showers come at us on a strong northwesterly flow. There’s a chance for some slushy light accumulations on elevated surfaces early today, but much of the flake action melts. This isn’t a big snow deal, except for the time of year. Highs this afternoon will only top out in the upper 30s to low 40s. Wind chills will make it feel like it’s below freezing for much of the day. I will get your tracking tools in a moment.

Tuesday starts with a hard freeze as temps hit the 20s… Again. The afternoon looks much better with highs in the 60s with mostly sunny skies.

Wednesday is windy and warm with highs in the 70s. Clouds will increase in the afternoon as a cold front drops in from the northwest. That may touch off scattered showers and storms by Wednesday night, with colder air settling in for Thursday..

Highs on Thursday may stay in the 40s.

After a quick rebound in temps to end the week, our focus turns toward another bowling ball looking system heading our way. That rolls in this weekend, but the models are starting to trend a little more south with it…

The overall pattern across much of the country continues to be skewed colder than normal through the rest of the month. Here’s the CFS through the final day of April…

With normal temps continuing to climb with each passing day, below normal doesn’t mean true winter stuff, it just means ugly for this time of year. Some milder days will be noted, but you get the idea about the overall picture.

I will have another update later today, so check back. For now, let’s track some flakes…
