Good afternoon, gang. My focus continues to be on the increasing threat for strong to severe storms Friday into Friday night.

The Storm Prediction Center continues to put the severe weather bullseye right on top of us…

Scattered storms look to be ongoing early on Friday, with the main severe threat coming in the afternoon and evening. That’s when a few supercell thunderstorms may begin to crank, bringing a large hail and isolated tornado threat.

The main threat comes as a large complex (MCS) of thunderstorms develops and rolls across the state. This has the potential to evolve into a widespread damaging wind maker.

In addition to the severe threat, flash flooding is also a possibility.

I will have the very latest on the severe threat on WKYT-TV starting at 4pm, with updates all evening long.

In the short-term, scattered thunderstorms develop this afternoon and evening, with the best chance in the west. There is even a low-end risk for a few severe storms out there. Track today’s action…
