Good Friday to one and all. We have a very chilly pattern settling in across the eastern half of the country and that is bringing November-like readings to Kentucky. This setup will bring a couple of chilly rain makers our way, including what’s left of a Pacific hurricane.
Patchy frost may be with us to start the day with several areas in the mid and upper 30s. Skies will be partly sunny, but clouds will roll in this evening and may produce a few showers into the wee hours of the morning. There’s even the chance for a few snowflakes just to our north. This fast moving system that doesn’t have much moisture with it and will be gone by daybreak Saturday…
Lows by Saturday morning will be in the middle 30s where skies clear. Another touch of frost will be possible. Highs that afternoon will reach the 50s with clouds hanging tough. If the clouds stay thick, 50 may be a tough get.
The setup from Sunday into next week actually looks like a winter one. Several systems will move in from the southwest, bringing waves of chilly rain to the region…
If that same setup presents itself this winter, major snow and ice would accompany it.
Frosty cold mornings will follow that up into the middle of next week with a seasonal chill continuing for the rest of next week.
There’s a strong signature for cold showing up next weekend into the following week. Here’s how the GFS gets the ball rolling…
The GFS Ensembles follow that up with additional cold shots…
That same run suggests some Ohio Valley flake chances during the same time…
Have a great day and take care.
I’m ready for sub-freezing temps.
As much as I like the cool weather, and I absolutely LOVE IT, it’s going to be very hard leaving Daytona Beach at 90 degrees and coming home to 30’s. We didn’t pack any pants! Ha. I guess we will be cold once we get home for a bit!! Oh well, Thanks Chris!
First 40s in Harlan! I am at 46 degrees and loving life this morning. Summer is FINALLY dead☺
42 at my residence
39 at my back porch. This winter I hope it’s all snow and NOT ICE. I think everyone will agree with me on this one.
Thanks Chris. Today is our last day on the beach. After reading the blog, I’m not sure I want to come home! We will have to stop somewhere and put on long pants as I am not leaving the sunshine state in a pair of jeans with temps topping 90. Talk about a culture shock! Oh well. Have a great Friday everyone!
You too. Welcome back.
Good frost in the open field out my front porch. Autumn weather finally arrives. First frost right on time. In a few days we will have Fall foliage color.
Must be that climate change smh
What is your infatuation with making a comment that either puts down or disagrees with anything Schroeder says? Its like teenager online bullying…it’s unbelievable to read sometimes. Just be kind…it is a fantastic way to live and make the world a better place.
I choose not to believe because Schroeder told us that he doesn’t see a pattern flip and the warm 80s and dry pattern will continue. He’s got to know more than Chris has been telling us.
Schroeder always has and always will be full of it when it comes to his knowledge of weather. He contradicts himself more than anyone I know. #Devils Advocate
Yes, I agree I have my faults but I’m really a good person.
I really don’t know I’m just in the dark as anyone else is on long term forecasting.
Jeff, I will never know more than Meteorologist Chris Bailey. I just have a BS degree in Agriculture and anyone can achieve that. Ever since I been on Chris’s blog I have pretended to be someone I’m not and I apologize to everyone world wide. The honest truth.
Climate Change is BS. No truth to it.
Climate Change is BS. No facts to back it up.
Are you sure? Will the upper level winds bring back more upper 80’s into late October. I thought you had this pattern sniffed out.
I don’t know.
When Chris criticized the NWS, some of you guys really took it to heart apparently.
We never had a Summer. No real heat.
Agree
Really?? What’s your version of real heat?
Prelude, not weather related but I was going to ask you how your Harley handled ? When I was younger I had fun riding on the back seat of one on the way to the fishing hole.
Disagreed. We never hit 100, but it was still plenty hot.
you must be in a cave all summer long, pretty hot to me at times I know I work out in it!!!
Wuh? Yes we did. You ever leave the house? 😉
I predict it will do “something” this winter. Ambiguously vague forecast complete 🙂
