Good Saturday, everyone. Our weekend is off and running and the weather couldn’t be any better. Temps are heading toward 70 degrees with plenty of sunshine will make for a superb Saturday. While the weekend begins nice, it may not end that way as some scattered storms roll in.
Today’s weather = awesome. ‘Nuff said
A weak cold front will settle southward toward the state for Sunday and may spit our a broken line of showers and thunderstorms. The simulated radar from the NAM shows this well…
Temps will range from the upper 60s to lower 70s. A few storms may linger into Monday as thermometers head into the low and middle 70s.
Tuesday and Wednesday look even warmer with upper 70s to around 80 degrees. That’s when we turn our attention toward a slow moving storm rolling across the southern plains. That will then work into the region by Thursday…
A scenario like that would mean we have the potential for some strong or severe thunderstorms. That’s something we will focus on as we go through the next several days.
Until then… enjoy today’s dose of awesomeness.
Take care.
I am really worried that we aren’t going to get much rain this spring and head into an early drought. Ugh…
Yeah…nice weather…
Great day at Keeneland yesterday, got my spring juices flowing again, a little rain won’t be a bad thing if we get it, a little dry already!
Sorry for stating the overly obvious, but what great weather 🙂 Almost makes one forget all the college basketball that will be going on the next few days. Almost 😉
At the same time, we of course sometimes pay a price for spring weather. The Storm Prediction Center is showing the possibility of a tornado outbreak for the central/southern plains around Tuesday. By the Wed time frame, Paducah and Memphis could be in the crosshairs although the models are still a bit up in the air about more precise timing and conditions this far out. Still, not a bad idea to stay tuned and to alert others and make sure your weather alert radios and other devices are working.
Hope that stuff gets out of here before nest Saturday’s Spring game. planning on being at that one and really don’t want cold, rainy weather on a Saturday night for it. 😉 Thanks, Chris. Appreciate you very much!
Have a great Saturday, everyone.

Went to the Smokies this week. Made a snowman on the way to Clingmans. Winter fun in spring.
Hard to believe how far the vegetation is behind last year. Warmer weather, come on down!
Wow 75 in east Frankfort, winter RIP 🙂
Some pretty cool tools over at NWS site, they’re new to me at least. Maybe you smart guys can interpret the data it presents. I just think its interesting looking at it. http://www.spc.noaa.gov/exper/envbrowser/
Weather is driven by air pressure (temperature and moisture) differences between one place and another. These pressure and temperature differences can occur due to the sun angle at any particular spot, which varies by latitude from the tropics. The strong temperature contrast between polar and tropical air gives rise to the jet stream. Weather systems in the mid-latitudes, such as extratropical cyclones, are caused by instabilities of the jet stream flow. *
