A “fresher” brand of air has moved into the state for this Thursday and will give us a reprieve from the heat and humidity of the past several days. This is only a break as hot and humid weather will roll in for the weekend and will likely stick around through next week.

There is an increasing chance for showers and thunderstorms to come along for the ride. More on that in just a bit.

Let’s concentrate on the good part of the forecast and that is the weather we will have today. Lower humidity levels will be with us leading to a more comfy feel. Highs will be running in the middle 80s for most areas under a partly to mostly sunny sky. Parts of western Kentucky may actually see a stray storm or two as they will be closer to a warm front.

That warm front will swing in here Friday and will bring an increase in the muggies once again. It will also boost temps to near 90 for many areas.

The 90s should become very common from this weekend into next week as each day can bring highs in the 90-95 degree range. Throw in the high humidity levels and you can easily get a “feel like” temp o 100 degrees or a little better. That is not good news for folks who work outside or don’t have air conditioning.

I mentioned the chance for thunderstorms to try to join the party and that is looking more and more like a possibility. Some popcorn storms could go up Friday and Saturday before we get into a slightly higher chance for some afternoon boomers from Sunday into early next week. You can see what I’m talking about here on the GFS…

Sunday Evening

Tuesday Evening

The core of the heat hangs out to our west leaving us in a prime spot for scattered storms. Some of the models are suggesting the heat makes more of a run at us by the middle and end of next week.

Summer is coming on strong this year!

Take care.

Good Thursday everyone and thanks for blogging with us.
