Showers and thunderstorms will be common across the bluegrass state today. These boomers may bring some very heavy rains and a few of the storms may be strong or severe. This is part of a rather stormy setup for the rest of the week.<\/p>\n<p>There is a lot of moisture available for these storms to tap and that means very heavy rain will be a good bet. The greatest severe weather potential is likely to be to our south, but a few severe storms can&#8217;t be ruled out across parts of central and southern Kentucky.<\/p>\n<p>The latest tracking tools&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Today\u2019s Risk Area<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/products\/outlook\/day1otlk.html\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Latest Day 1 convective outlook\" src=\"http:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/products\/outlook\/day1otlk.gif\" width=\"582\" height=\"408\" \/><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Current Watches<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong><\/strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/products\/watch\/\"><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Current Watches\" src=\"http:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/products\/watch\/validww.png\" width=\"582\" height=\"408\" \/><\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Possible Watch Areas<\/strong> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/products\/md\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Current MDs\" src=\"http:\/\/www.spc.noaa.gov\/products\/md\/validmd.png\" width=\"582\" height=\"408\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.accuweather.com\/radar-large.asp?partner=netweather&amp;traveler=0&amp;site=KY_&amp;type=SIR&amp;anim=1&amp;level=state&amp;large=1#\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" usemap=\"#largemap\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Scattered showers and storms will continue to be possible each day through the upcoming weekend. High temps should continue to average below normal with upper 70s to low 80s for many.<\/p>\n<p>There is a model battle brewing down the road. Many of the operational models like the GFS and European are suggesting widespread 90s developing late next week. The GFS Ensembles goes the other way and develops another deep trough across the region&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/GFS-23.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10244\" alt=\"GFS 2\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/GFS-23.png\" width=\"341\" height=\"251\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/GFS-23.png 341w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/06\/GFS-23-300x220.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 341px) 100vw, 341px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>While I do think we get in on a period of &#8220;hot&#8221; weather this summer, the trend of dips in the trough is a tough nut to crack right now.<\/p>\n<p>I will have updates on the storms as needed.
