Much cooler air is working into the state today, but this is just a preview of what&#8217;s to come next week. It&#8217;s another blast of fall temps that could see thermometers challenge record lows once again. This is basically the summertime version of the pattern we had this past winter.<\/p>\n<p>The day will start with a few showers and storms hanging on across the region. Highs will reach the mid and upper 70s in the afternoon with a mix of sun and clouds.\u00a0 Low humidity levels will make for this a perfect afternoon and evening.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.accuweather.com\/radar-large.asp?partner=netweather&amp;traveler=0&amp;site=KY_&amp;type=SIR&amp;anim=1&amp;level=state&amp;large=1#\"><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" usemap=\"#largemap\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Current temperatures<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"\" src=\"http:\/\/www.kymesonet.org\/wxmaps\/tair_f_large.png?nowtime=1325915126\" width=\"479\" height=\"208\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Lows by Friday morning will drop into the middle 50s for many areas&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/GFS7.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10561\" alt=\"GFS\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/GFS7.png\" width=\"348\" height=\"324\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/GFS7.png 348w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/GFS7-300x279.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 348px) 100vw, 348px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Afternoon temps rebound to the 80-85 degree range with a mix of sun and clouds. Some clouds will increase on Saturday and I can&#8217;t rule out a few storms diving in from the northwest. That&#8217;s on the cusp of some plains heat that tries to shoot our way for a few hours&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/GFS-36.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-10562\" alt=\"GFS 3\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/GFS-36.png\" width=\"534\" height=\"480\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/GFS-36.png 534w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/07\/GFS-36-300x269.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 534px) 100vw, 534px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That gets smacked down by a powerhouse of a front arriving from the northwest on Sunday. Showers and thunderstorms will increase and carry us into early Monday. This will be the beginning of a prolonged period of well below normal temperatures.
