The forecast continues to point toward a very wintry blast blowing\u00a0in for Halloween. This will be complete with rain to snow, crashing temps, gusty winds and low wind chill readings.<\/p>\n<p>The new GFS continues to drop a VERY potent upper level system\u00a0into the region Friday into Friday night&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/GFS23.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11431\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/GFS23.png\" alt=\"GFS\" width=\"560\" height=\"252\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/GFS23.png 560w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/GFS23-300x135.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 560px) 100vw, 560px\" \/><\/a>That type of system is very dynamic and creates a ton of rising air in the atmosphere. I&#8217;ve seen similar systems produce thunder and lightning as they pass through here. The air associated with this originated in the arctic and will likely bring colder temps than the computer models suggest. That would be saying something because the models are plenty cold enough.<\/p>\n<p>The GFS shows the change from rain to snow working in from the west and northwest later Friday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/GFS-226.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11429\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/GFS-226.png\" alt=\"GFS 2\" width=\"407\" height=\"300\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/GFS-226.png 407w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/GFS-226-300x221.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 407px) 100vw, 407px\" \/><\/a>Wraparound snows continue into Saturday morning with the potential for flurries or snow showers hanging around into Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>The latest snowfall forecast from the GFS continues to show the potential for some sticking snows&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/GFS-57.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-11433\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/GFS-57.png\" alt=\"GFS 5\" width=\"449\" height=\"528\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/GFS-57.png 449w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/GFS-57-255x300.png 255w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 449px) 100vw, 449px\" \/><\/a>The best chance to pick up on accumulation would be across the mountains of eastern and southeastern Kentucky. That said, I could see some spots in central Kentucky getting in on some slush Friday night. That&#8217;s when temps drop below freezing across the entire region. Lows will be in the upper 20s to around 30.<\/p>\n<p>Winds will be very gusty and could top our between 30mph and 40mph at times.
