The pattern ahead of us is a very impressive one that is cutoff crazy. Slow-moving upper level lows will take center stage over the next few weeks and this is ushering in a very\u00a0wintry pattern for the second half of the month into January.<\/p>\n<p>The first cutoff gets going on Tuesday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Euro10.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12261\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Euro10.png\" alt=\"Euro\" width=\"912\" height=\"365\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Euro10.png 912w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Euro10-300x120.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 912px) 100vw, 912px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the system that gives us a nice flow for snow showers Tuesday into Wednesday. The upper level low then lifts to the northeast, but starts to turn back toward the west and south by late week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Euro-25.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12259\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Euro-25.png\" alt=\"Euro 2\" width=\"916\" height=\"404\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Euro-25.png 916w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Euro-25-300x132.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 916px) 100vw, 916px\" \/><\/a>Think of that system spinning like a bicycle wheel that has spokes spinning with it. If the wheel gets close enough, a few of those spokes could brush Kentucky. If that happens, flakes may fly across the east into the end of the week.<\/p>\n<p>Regardless&#8230; that&#8217;s a seasonable cold pattern across our region.<\/p>\n<p>The models are then trying to develop another cutoff into the first half of next week. The European Model is probably giving too much separation between a system across our region and one well to our south&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Euro-35.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-12260\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Euro-35.png\" alt=\"Euro 3\" width=\"392\" height=\"468\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Euro-35.png 392w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/12\/Euro-35-251x300.png 251w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 392px) 100vw, 392px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Those two could try to get together for a much bigger system slowly spinning across our part of the world.<\/p>\n<p>All of this leads us into a pattern that has a ton of winter written all over it from Christmas week through January.
