Good Wednesday and Merry Christmas, Everyone. A big area of low pressure will work northward across the state today and this will bring about some wild weather. I have you all set to track the action as we head over the river and through the woods.<\/p>\n

Some thoughts:<\/p>\n

– Winds today will be a big player with gusts of 40mph at times across the central and eastern Kentucky.<\/p>\n

– Temps will be wicked early today with 40s in the west and 60s in the central and east. Those numbers will drop like a rock from west to east as the storm system lifts to our north. Temps will drop some 20-25 degrees in just a few hours.<\/p>\n

– Most areas will see temps dropping into the 30s for Christmas Eve with some snowflakes starting to fly. That trend starts in the west and works to the east into Christmas Morning.<\/p>\n

– A cold front works into the region over the weekend and slows down. This allows for waves of low pressure to develop along it. The first few will likely be cold rain makers for us for later Saturday into Sunday. A switch to snow is possible come Sunday night and Monday.<\/p>\n

– The arctic air associated with this front then pushes into our region for the last couple of days of 2014. That will likely set the stage for a few more systems that will have a MUCH better chance at being pure snow makers for us. The European Model and the GFS Model agree on that thought…<\/p>\n
