Good Saturday everyone and welcome to the annual Battle For The Bluegrass. The Kentucky Wildcats and the Louisville Cardinals will fight and scratch tonight out at Commonwealth Stadium in Lexington and we have the weather part of the battle covered.
<\/FONT>
For those folks who have been with me for many years… today is the day I usually have a little fun at the expense of the Cards. Those days are behind us as the blog had to grow up and act our age at some point. Growing up sucks, but what do ya do?

The game itself looks to feature weather more typical of October than September. Kickoff temps will run in the upper 60s and drop into the low 60s during the second half. A little breeze will be blowing as skies remain partly cloudy. Tailgaters will have to deal with a fair amount of clouds with temps topping out in the low 70s. I am hoping these clouds don’t have a sprinkle or light shower with them.

For those not interested in the game forecast… our Saturday will be dominated with partly to mostly cloudy skies and temps near 70 in the east with mid 70s west. A couple of showers will try to crank up across the far south and west.

Moisture will increase on Sunday with a slightly better shot at a shower or thundershower in the afternoon and evening hours. Highs should range from the low to mid 70s.

Rain chances will really ramp up into early next week as we are likely to go into a very unsettled weather period. Showers and scattered thunderstorms will dart across our skies Monday and Tuesday with a gradual increase in the action from Wednesday into the end of the week.

This happens as the models continue to suggest a cutoff upper level low across the region for the second half of the week into next weekend. You can see that very well on the 6-10 day 500mb Height Anomalies…<\/FONT>



Those two models disagree a bit on the exact placement of this upper low… but the end result is basically the same as temps come way down and rain chances go way up. The GFS rain totals for next week are impressive for much of the country…<\/FONT>



Does that look like a map from the middle of what is normally a fairly dry month? Didn’t think so.
