<\/p>\nGood Friday, everyone. It’s a day of tracking winter weather across the bluegrass state and surrounding areas. Moisture will increase quickly from south to north and that means a wintry mix develops this morning\u00a0 That mix will then\u00a0give way to a band of snow later in the day into tonight.<\/p>\n
The setup continues to favor a healthy snow band oriented from southwest to northeast across the heart of the state late today into the wee hours of Saturday morning. That band has the potential to overachieve in some areas. For that reason, I have added the “locally higher” qualifier to the coating to 2″ area…<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
That new call for snowfall also shows a little more potential across the southeastern mountains for Saturday morning.<\/p>\n
Whatever falls through this event\u00a0will be very wet\u00a0and we will have some melting. Still… we\u00a0really need to watch the main area I’ve highlighted in the darker blue. There was a strong trend in the overnight model data to suggest the possibility of some higher amounts.<\/p>\n
Given the trend of the winter and the marginal temps… I am sticking with the more conservative approach for now.<\/p>\n
