Tornadoes, damaging winds and large hail are possible in and close to the watch area. In addition to the severe weather threat… flooding will be a big concern as these storms may drop another 1″-2″ or rain in a short period of time as they race eastward across the state.

Parts of Pike county in southeastern Kentucky have been hard hit by flooding from the afternoon storms. Some parts of the state have picked up 2″-3″ already today so it won’t take much to cause flash flooding. A FLASH FLOOD WATCH is out for northern and eastern Kentucky this evening.  Given the radar trends…. central Ky should be too.
