Good Sunday everyone. Our run of heat is coming to a crashing end today as a strong cold front works in from the northwest. This front will deliver an increasing threat for showers and thunderstorms as we await the leftovers of Lee to come calling.<\/p>\n

I want to give you a breakdown of how things look to play out…<\/p>\n

– Showers and thunderstorms will ramp up today and some of these may become strong or severe. Torrential rains will be noted with these storms and some local high water issues may arise.<\/p>\n

– This front slowly pushes eastward across the area Labor Day. Rain and thunderstorms will be common across central and eastern Kentucky for much of the day. We will try to dry things out a bit from west to east later in the day.<\/p>\n

– Temps Monday will range from the upper 60s for areas getting in on mainly rainy skies to mid 70s for those with a touch of sunshine.<\/p>\n

– Moisture from Tropical Storm Lee will arrive on Tuesday and the exact track of what is left of this system will ultimately decide who gets how much rain. As of now… a swath of heavy rains will be likely across the eastern half of the state.<\/p>\n

– This system should become cut off from the main jet stream and hang around our region into the start of the upcoming weekend. This would mean a daily threat for showers and thunderstorms with temps running well below normal.
