Yes, I know it&#8217;s the first week of May, but our weather pattern continues to suggest something totally different. Temps will be super toasty this week and could even flirt with some records by the second half of the week. It&#8217;s during this time we will also see an increase in moisture and the potential for showers and storms.<\/p>\n<p>There is the smallest threat for isolated showers and storms today across the north. Other than that, we will see partly sunny skies with most areas hitting 80 or a little better.<\/p>\n<p>Low and middle 80s for highs will be common for the rest of\u00a0the week. A day or two could feature thermometers hitting the upper 80s&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-Temps.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14393\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-Temps.png\" alt=\"GFS Temps\" width=\"523\" height=\"322\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-Temps.png 523w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-Temps-300x184.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 523px) 100vw, 523px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It&#8217;s possible to see a rare early May 90 degree temp show up with this type of setup.<\/p>\n<p>I mentioned the potential for scattered showers and storms to enter the picture and that&#8217;s possible late in the week. The models continue to advertise our flow coming from the Gulf of Mexico and that should bring a nice increase in humidity. The potential tropical system off the southeastern coastline shows up at the same time&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14394\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS.png\" alt=\"GFS\" width=\"323\" height=\"338\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS.png 323w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-286x300.png 286w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 323px) 100vw, 323px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The GFS keeps that system floating around through the weekend into early next week. That&#8217;s when it finally brings the western trough out into the plains states&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14395\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-2.png\" alt=\"GFS 2\" width=\"324\" height=\"336\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-2.png 324w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-2-289x300.png 289w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 324px) 100vw, 324px\" \/><\/a>That would dramatically increase our thunderstorm chances and is something to watch for. This severe weather season has shown some signs over the past month, but the lid continues to be on the pot.
