Today is the start of meteorological summer, but someone forgot to give Mother Nature the memo. Much cooler than normal temperatures are out there today and the cool is being accompanied by some damp weather.<\/p>\n<p>High temps today may not get out of the 60s for parts of our region.\u00a0 There&#8217;s even the chance for a few spots to struggle to get into the low 60s.\u00a0Showers and thunderstorms will work across the region during this time.\u00a0Some very heavy rainfall may\u00a0be noted at times.\u00a0More in the way of out and out thunderstorm action may show up across the southeastern corner of the state.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.accuweather.com\/radar-large.asp?partner=netweather&amp;traveler=0&amp;site=KY_&amp;type=SIR&amp;anim=1&amp;level=state&amp;large=1#\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" usemap=\"#largemap\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"full-wide\" src=\"http:\/\/gray.ftp.clickability.com\/wkytwebftp\/WEBTEMPS_STATE_650.jpg\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The threat for scattered showers and storms will linger across the east and southeast into Tuesday. A mix of sun and clouds will be noted across the rest of the state with pleasant temps&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/NAM7.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14594\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/NAM7.png\" alt=\"NAM\" width=\"787\" height=\"455\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/NAM7.png 787w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/NAM7-300x173.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 787px) 100vw, 787px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>An upper level low then sets up across the Tennessee Valley into the deep south by Wednesday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS17.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14593\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS17.png\" alt=\"GFS\" width=\"328\" height=\"482\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS17.png 328w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS17-204x300.png 204w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 328px) 100vw, 328px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The counterclockwise flow around that pulls up some moisture from the south and southeast. That results in an increase in scattered showers and storms&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-42.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14592\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-42.png\" alt=\"GFS 4\" width=\"664\" height=\"291\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-42.png 664w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-42-300x131.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 664px) 100vw, 664px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Temps will increase during this period, as well. Another upper level low tries to cut off around here next weekend&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-29.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14590\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-29.png\" alt=\"GFS 2\" width=\"378\" height=\"483\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-29.png 378w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-29-235x300.png 235w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 378px) 100vw, 378px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That would keep the threat for scattered showers and thunderstorms going.<\/p>\n<p>A deeper dip in the jet stream shows up a few days later&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-32.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-14591\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-32.png\" alt=\"GFS 3\" width=\"378\" height=\"483\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-32.png 378w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2015\/05\/GFS-32-235x300.png 235w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 378px) 100vw, 378px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s the shot of cool air the CFS has been forecasting to dig into the region for the middle of June.<\/p>\n<p>Have a great Monday and take care.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Good Monday and welcome to June.
