Good afternoon everyone! A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is now in effect for most of central and eastern Kentucky until 11pm. A line of strong and severe thunderstorms is racing eastward across the state and will likely bring damaging winds and large hail to some areas.

Here is a look at the watch…

You will notice the blue line…  that is the actual watch box from the Storm Prediction Center. The filled counties are the ones the NWS offices have included in the watch. You may also notice Jackson decided to leave a number of counties out of the recommended watch from the SPC. While leaving a few counties out is usually the case in these situations… I don’t think I have ever seen such a strange decision in this kind of situation.
