Good Sunday everyone. A cold front is working across the state today and is bringing scattered showers and thunderstorms with it. This will kick off what should be a wild week of weather across the eastern half of the country and that might put us in line for some active conditions.

Let’s start with today and work forward…

– A strong storm or two is possible today and any one storm will put down some locally heavy rains.

– The front will usher in a fresh brand of air for Monday as temps come back down into the upper 70s and low 80s for highs. We should see a mix of sun and clouds with only a small chance for a shower.

– After another nice day on Tuesday… we will watch the northwestern sky for some showers and thunderstorms moving in by Wednesday.

– These on and off showers and storms will hang around into Thursday as another front dips in from the northwest.

-It is at this point our weather outlook gets a little cloudy as we wait to see what happens with Tropical Storm and future Hurricane Irene. This storm is going to be a big player across the eastern gulf with Florida looking to be in the bullseye by the end of the week. Here is the latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center…

– This has the look of a rather wild storm once it gets to Florida as it should be a fairly slow mover and may produce wind damage and flooding rains well inland and pretty far north. Where that track is won’t be known for several more days.  I will say, given the model support and overall pattern, this may impact our region next weekend.

It always spices up the tropical tracking when a system has a chance to directly impact our weather and we will be all over it in the coming days.
