The heavy snow band I blogged about earlier in the day has taken shape and it is turning out to be a thumper. Snowfall of 1″-3″ will be common across much of central and eastern Kentucky over the next several hours. Local amounts can hit 4″ under the heaviest snow bands. Here is the radar…

FRIDAY…

THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN LOUISVILLE HAS ISSUED A WINTER
WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW…WHICH IS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 AM EST \/6 AM
CST\/ FRIDAY.

LIGHT TO MODERATE SNOW IS EXPECTED ACROSS THE ADVISORY AREA
TONIGHT AND WILL DIMINISH LATE TONIGHT. MOST LOCATIONS WILL SEE
AROUND ONE INCH OF ACCUMULATION…BUT SOME ISOLATED SPOTS MAY SEE
UP TO TWO INCHES OF ACCUMULATIONS. THIS SNOWFALL COMBINED WITH
PREVIOUSLY WET ROADS AND TEMPERATURES FALLING BELOW FREEZING WILL
LEAD TO HAZARDOUS DRIVING CONDITIONS OVERNIGHT.

A WINTER WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SNOW MEANS THAT PERIODS OF SNOW
WILL CAUSE PRIMARILY TRAVEL DIFFICULTIES. BE PREPARED FOR SNOW
COVERED ROADS AND LIMITED VISIBILITIES…AND USE CAUTION WHILE
DRIVING.

The NWS in Jackson is also expanding their advisory to include all of there counties! Travel will become very hazardous quickly this evening so be safe if you are out driving.
