Good Thursday and Merry Christmas Eve. Severe weather and flooding rains lashed much of the bluegrass state on Wednesday. Unfortunately, this type of pattern isn’t quite done with us. Even heavier amounts of rain are on the way this weekend into early next week. The flood threat will be on the increase.<\/p>\n

We will catch a bit of a break out there today, but more rain moves back in for Christmas. This becomes heavy at times with thunder and lightning Friday night into early Saturday…<\/p>\n

\"GFS<\/a>High water issues may develop during this time.<\/p>\n

The corridor of heaviest rain will try to work north of the Ohio River later Saturday. I’m not fully sold on the idea that this happens for any lengthy period of time. We had better hope that happens or we will be in an even worse situation.<\/p>\n

Torrential rains return Sunday into Monday as our storm system works toward the region…<\/p>\n

\"GFS<\/a>Rainfall totals from the GFS through Monday continue to be alarming…<\/p>\n

\"GFS\"<\/a>The Canadian Model is echoing a similar sentiment…<\/p>\n

\"Canadian\"<\/a>As I said several days ago, this is the setup that can bring about a flood event for the Ohio and Tennessee River Valleys. The above maps certainly look the part.<\/p>\n

The pattern flips to winter once the rains end by the middle of the week. It’s almost as if mother nature is literally flipping a switch. We will focus more on that after we get through the nasty stuff of the next several days.<\/p>\n
