We&#8217;re finally getting in on some winter weather across the bluegrass state. A strong northwesterly wind will combine with a weak disturbance to produce snow showers and squalls. The bigger story continues to be the potential development of the week two harsh winter pattern.<\/p>\n<p>Today&#8217;s snow showers and squalls will be concentrated across central and eastern Kentucky. These will cause reduced visibilities and can cause slick spots to develop on area roads. These can cover the ground quickly with light accumulations. If you happen to get under repeat snow squalls&#8230; local 1&#8243; amounts will be possible.<\/p>\n<p>This isn&#8217;t much snow at all, but it may have a decent impact on travel at times. Your tracking toys in a bit.<\/p>\n<p>A quick hitting system moves in here by Thursday and Friday with mainly rain. That action could start out as some frozen stuff before temps come up a bit. As that goes by, colder air comes in behind it with another storm system developing along the boundary. That tries to move our way later this coming weekend with the potential for winter weather. The latest European Model&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Euro4.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-16980\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Euro4.png\" alt=\"Euro\" width=\"760\" height=\"842\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Euro4.png 760w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Euro4-271x300.png 271w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 760px) 100vw, 760px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>We will have to wait and see how that low wants to track. My early gut tells me its a little farther east than what the European is showing. One thing I know&#8230; the GFS and it&#8217;s different solution with each run isn&#8217;t really worth looking at until it agrees with some other models.<\/p>\n<p>Arctic air then pours in here behind that system with the potential for another winter weather maker along that boundary.<\/p>\n<p>I will get more into all that with the next update.
