Good evening, gang. We have a lot of winter on the way to the region over the next week. Bitterly cold temps are ready to blow into the region and that will be followed by some pretty good snow chances for the upcoming week.<\/p>\n

We have some light snow that will brush southeastern Kentucky overnight into Sunday morning. Light accumulations will be possible and that could create some slick travel. The best chance is across the Virginia border counties.<\/p>\n

Elsewhere, some light flakes or freezing drizzle will be noted. A light glaze on elevated surfaces will be possible.<\/p>\n

The arctic front then sweeps in Sunday evening with some snow showers and high winds. Bitterly cold temps follow that for Monday and Tuesday. This has been well discussed for more than a week now.<\/p>\n

The system following that by Tuesday night and Wednesday is looking formidable on the forecast models. This is looking more and more like the first widespread snowfall of the winter. The European Model shows the snows working in…<\/p>\n

The latest trend on the models is to keep that system more in tact all the way through the region. If that trend continues, the better the chance for a decent snowfall.<\/p>\n

A storm comes in behind that by Friday and into the weekend. This is likely to be a slow-mover, and if we stay on the cold side, could be a biggie.<\/p>\n

The European Ensembles Mean shows the snows from west to east across Kentucky…<\/p>\n

That keeps the storm to our south and east, but its 6 days away. Don’t take any model solution to heart!<\/p>\n

Who knows if any of these systems will actually pay off in terms of snow. But, we certainly have a lot of things to track. Don’t be surprised if this coming week produces our first WST of the season. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n
