I wanted to drop by for a quick update on the severe weather potential for early next week.<\/p>\n<p>The Storm Prediction Center continues to up the ante for severe weather across our region for Groundhog Day Tuesday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/SPC.gif\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17528\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/SPC.gif\" alt=\"SPC\" width=\"815\" height=\"555\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I suspect the severe weather threat around here may hinge up on what happens with the first cold front on Monday. The latest models are bringing that front farther south into the region with colder air seeping in behind it&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/GFS-227.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17526\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/GFS-227.png\" alt=\"GFS 2\" width=\"409\" height=\"323\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/GFS-227.png 409w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/GFS-227-300x237.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 409px) 100vw, 409px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The farther south that front gets, the better the chance it forces the next storm a bit south and east of earlier forecast tracks. This is exactly what the new Canadian Model is doing&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Canadian31.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-17525\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Canadian31.png\" alt=\"Canadian\" width=\"791\" height=\"697\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Canadian31.png 791w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/01\/Canadian31-300x264.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 791px) 100vw, 791px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That would bring high winds to our region, but would limit the true severe weather threat. That&#8217;s IF the model is right.
