Showers and some thunderstorms are rumbling across the state today as colder air fights back in. This will set the stage for another active weather pattern taking shape. It&#8217;s one that will\u00a0likely spit out a big Ohio Valley winter storm in a few days.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s start with today and the showers and storms. This action is centered on the first part of our Sunday, with the bulk of the heaviest rains falling across the northern half of the state. Temps will still be mild, but slowly drop as the evening wears on.<\/p>\n<p>Track the action&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/builder.zoomradar.net\/zoomradar_weather_map\/weather_page.php?key=dlFZs5IY4VCw7bK\" width=\"560\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" seamless=\"seamless\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A shower or two may be noted on Monday as temps come way down compared to the weekend numbers.<\/p>\n<p>Our big storm system gets cranking late Tuesday and rolls in here on Wednesday with some wild weather. The low might pass right on top of central Kentucky with heavy rain and thunder just ahead of it, and cold air and a swath of snow behind it. As the low passes by to our northeast, wraparound snows kick in as temps crash&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=18038\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-18038\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18038\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/GFS-7.png\" alt=\"GFS\" width=\"853\" height=\"1050\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/GFS-7.png 853w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/GFS-7-244x300.png 244w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/GFS-7-768x945.png 768w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/GFS-7-832x1024.png 832w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 853px) 100vw, 853px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The exact path of that low is still in question, and may not show itself until Monday. That track could will be the difference between 50s and heavy rain, and a thumping, wind driven snowfall where you live. If the above run works out as shown, most areas get heavy rain and high winds followed by a 25 degree temp drop in a few hours with snow kicking in.<\/p>\n<p>The wind factor with this storm is really getting my attention&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=18039\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-18039\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18039\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/GFS-3-4.png\" alt=\"GFS 3\" width=\"469\" height=\"483\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/GFS-3-4.png 469w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/02\/GFS-3-4-291x300.png 291w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 469px) 100vw, 469px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>40-50mph winds will be possible with that type of winter storm right on top of our region.
