Good Saturday and welcome to the weekend. We have had one heckuva run of gorgeous spring weather over the past couple of weeks. That streak ends abruptly out there today with some ugly stuff back in the bluegrass. Some rain and a few snowflakes will be on the move as much colder air filters in.<\/p>\n

Not everyone will see flakes today. The best chance looks to be across the northern half of the state. It’s possible… possible… to get some slush to build up on elevated surfaces in a few areas. I wouldn’t bet the farm on that one. Temps today range from the upper 30s and low 40s in the north with mid and upper 40s far south and west. Some rays of late day sun are even possible.<\/p>\n

Another system zips in with some light rain and light snow for western and southern parts of the state\u00a0early Sunday. Temps should mainly be in the 40s with partly sunny afternoon skies. The morning will likely start with some areas into the 20s.<\/p>\n

Most of the state will see a hard freeze Sunday night and Monday morning…<\/p>\n

Those numbers could cause some harm to our earlier than normal explosion of buds and blooms. Keep that in mind, green thumbs.<\/p>\n

Highs by Monday afternoon reach the upper 40s to low 50s in most areas.<\/p>\n

From there, temps really recover nicely into the 60s by Tuesday and could hit the 70s by Wednesday and Thursday. This warm air is ahead of a potent storm system rolling in here with showers and thunderstorms for the end of next week.<\/p>\n

That’s a healthy trough digging into the eastern part of the country…<\/p>\n

Looking down the road toward early April, we see the models hinting at more of the same…<\/p>\n

No wonder we\u00a0keep seeing\u00a0the GFS hinting at winter weather continuing across the country\u00a0over the next few weeks…<\/p>\n

That’s not a good look for true springtime setting in.<\/p>\n
