A powerful cold front will swing across the bluegrass state late Thursday, and bring rounds of strong to severe thunderstorms. This sets the stage for a MUCH colder pattern as we head into April. It&#8217;s one littered with multiple hard freeze threats.<\/p>\n<p>Let&#8217;s start with a busy Thursday forecast.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High winds may reach 40-45mph at times&#8230; without thunderstorms.<\/li>\n<li>Scattered showers and thunderstorms develop from west to east late tonight into Thursday morning.<\/li>\n<li>A break in the action into Thursday afternoon may allow for enough sun to boost temps into the 70s.<\/li>\n<li>Lines of strong to severe thunderstorms then fire up across western Kentucky in the afternoon. Those will then roll eastward across the rest of the state into the evening hours.<\/li>\n<li>Damaging winds, large hail and isolated tornadoes will be possible.<\/li>\n<li>The greatest risk for severe weather is across the west, but I expect the slight risk area to shift farther east compared to what the SPC currently shows&#8230;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=18521\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-18521\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18521\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/SPC-1.png\" alt=\"SPC\" width=\"886\" height=\"425\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/SPC-1.png 886w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/SPC-1-300x144.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/SPC-1-768x368.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 886px) 100vw, 886px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Cooler weather moves in for Friday with a stronger blast of cold moving in later Saturday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=18522\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-18522\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-18522\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Euro-9.png\" alt=\"Euro\" width=\"317\" height=\"424\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Euro-9.png 317w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/03\/Euro-9-224x300.png 224w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 317px) 100vw, 317px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Temps by Sunday morning will drop into the 20s with afternoon highs struggling to get out of the 40s.<\/p>\n<p>Monday turns milder with high winds a good possibility.
