Good Sunday to one and all. With another nice weather day in the making, I’m not going to get too windy on you all with this update. I can tell you, this is the week I get started looking at what the upcoming fall and winter may have in store. Let me know if you want me to throw you some thoughts.<\/p>\n

We are nearing the midway point of meteorological summer, and it’s been a very wet one across Kentucky. Check out the rainfall departures from the past 30 days…<\/p>\n

A few spots were near normal, but the majority of the state is covered with much above normal rainfall. This has been the summer theme of the past 4 years.<\/p>\n

It looks like we hang on to that theme for the week ahead as scattered showers and thunderstorms work across the region. A few could fire up today in the far south or southeast. Here’s a snapshot of the rain numbers from the GFS…<\/p>\n

Temperatures will be normal to slightly above early in the week, but make be normal to a bit below later in the week. As they have all summer, the models continue to advertise a week two heat wave. That has yet to show up around here, and until it actually does, forget about the models.<\/p>\n
