It&#8217;s a super-duper tropical atmosphere settling into the region for the next week or so. This will lead to the most humid stretch of the summer, and the increasing potential for heavy rainfall. The heavy rain threat should have a direct tropical connection. That&#8217;s worrisome.<\/p>\n<p>The threat for scattered storms returns from the east and southeast this afternoon an evening&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/builder.zoomradar.net\/zoomradar_weather_map\/weather_page.php?key=9nNfA2mOMDiJ4LG\" width=\"560\" height=\"462\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" seamless=\"seamless\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This action will only increase as we roll into Tuesday and Wednesday. The tropical connection to the Gulf is very apparent&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=19606\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-19606\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19606\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/GFS-3-2.png\" alt=\"GFS 3\" width=\"299\" height=\"339\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/GFS-3-2.png 299w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/GFS-3-2-265x300.png 265w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 299px) 100vw, 299px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can see that moisture being funneled to the west of the Appalachian Mountains. Showers and storms in that type a setup will be efficient rain producers. That&#8217;s especially true with dewpoints like these&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=19603\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-19603\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19603\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/GFS-5.png\" alt=\"GFS\" width=\"674\" height=\"383\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/GFS-5.png 674w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/GFS-5-300x170.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 674px) 100vw, 674px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s some nasty humidity and will only aid in the flash flood threat.<\/p>\n<p>Late this week into the weekend, the European Model continues to be adamant on the developing of some kind of tropical system along the Gulf coast. The model then shows a nice dip in the jet stream slowly picking this system up&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=19605\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-19605\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19605\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Euro-2-2.png\" alt=\"Euro 2\" width=\"493\" height=\"487\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Euro-2-2.png 493w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Euro-2-2-300x296.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 493px) 100vw, 493px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The end result on the Euro is to bring that system right across Kentucky&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=19600\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-19600\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-19600\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Euro-6.png\" alt=\"Euro\" width=\"880\" height=\"805\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Euro-6.png 880w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Euro-6-300x274.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/08\/Euro-6-768x703.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 880px) 100vw, 880px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>If that is accurate, then our flash flood threat would be the highest of the summer by the weekend.
