Good Saturday, everyone. For the past week, we have been setting the stage for the possibility of flash flooding rains returning to our region. That time has now arrived and will carry us into the first half of the upcoming work week.<\/p>\n

A front is moving in from the west and is slowing down. This will tap some DEEP tropical moisture from a system along the gulf coast. That entity will actually roll up the Mississippi River Valley and turn the corner into the Ohio Valley Monday and Tuesday.<\/p>\n

The models are having all kinds of feedback issues with this kind of a setup, and they are likely showing the heaviest rains too far north and west. Here’s my current thinking on the heavy rainfall and flash flood threat…<\/p>\n

Additional showers and thunderstorms will continue into the middle and end of next week.<\/p>\n

The models are then showing a significant trough digging into the middle of the country in about a week from now. The GFS shows this farther east…<\/p>\n

It then shows multiple days of much cooler than normal numbers…<\/p>\n

Again, that may be just a bit too far east, but it does look like our tropical pattern may finally come to an end.<\/p>\n
