Good Tuesday, everyone. We’ve made it past Labor Day and most folks are now shifting into full blown fall mode. Unfortunately, it still feels like the heart of summer out there and will continue to do so a while longer. Hang tough… a very active pattern appears to be taking shape, and it’s one that can bring some pretty good cool shots our way.<\/p>\n

Today and Wednesday will feature more of the steamy same with a small storm chance. Yada, Yada, Yada.<\/p>\n

The threat for thunderstorms will increase Thursday into Friday as a weak boundary moves our way…<\/p>\n

A much stronger cold front arrives early Saturday and could bring a more impressive band of showers and thunderstorms. The Canadian Model…<\/p>\n

The GFS is very similar…<\/p>\n

That’s a pretty sharp trough showing up on both models, and it should be able to knock our highs into the 70s for a few days. Lows can drop close to 50 by Sunday and Monday…<\/p>\n

How about those 30s in the WV mountains?<\/p>\n

Early next week will feature a stronger trough digging into our part of the world. The question is whether or not something tropical will be waiting on it down in the gulf. The models have backed off on that idea for now, but show an impressive shot of chill behind this system…<\/p>\n

A 1024 high is pretty impressive to see in the middle of September. Most models show our first taste of the 40s as a possibility if that system is as forecast…<\/p>\n

I can almost smell the pot of chili when looking at those maps. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>\n

The GFS and Canadian Models give us a good depiction of the chilly air intrusions showing up over the next few weeks…<\/p>\n

A friendly reminder these are only model forecasts we are looking at. My hunch is they are a littler too enthusiastic with the amount of cool they show.<\/p>\n
