Good Tuesday, folks. Summertime air continues to rule the weather across the bluegrass state this week. It’s a pattern that has been stuck in place for a while, but some cracks in the armor are starting to show up over the next week and change.<\/p>\n

The weather through Friday is pretty simple. Daytime temps will be well above normal and could hit 90 by the end of the week. We will watch the east and southeast for a stray shower or storm from the system along the east coast.<\/p>\n

The models now have a few changes for the upcoming weekend. We get a “backdoor” cold front making a run at us on Saturday. It’s called that because it actually comes at us from the north and northeast. That could touch off\u00a0a scattered shower or thunderstorm along the boundary. Here’s what that looks like from Saturday into Sunday…<\/p>\n

Notice how the front only gets so far into the region before slamming on the brakes. How far south and west that thing actually gets will have a huge bearing on Sunday temps. Here’s what the GFS is seeing for weekend highs…<\/p>\n

This new found front on the models then has an impact on the front coming our way for Monday. It will increase the threat for showers and storms, but may only knock temps down to normal by Tuesday. The second front we talked about yesterday shows up right behind that with the bigger push of cool…<\/p>\n

The GFS continues to advertise some very chilly air…<\/p>\n

Of course, it has been advertising that for a while now, and it never shows up. Still, I think we can get some decent cooling on occasion over the next few weeks.<\/p>\n

The overall pattern is currently skewed warmer than normal and looks to be into, at least, the first half of October.<\/p>\n
