The forest fire situation across the state continues to worsen, and the only thing that can truly help is rain. Fortunately, we have some in the forecast over the next few days. Unfortunately, it&#8217;s not a whole lot. From there, the pattern continues to flip toward an early start to winter.<\/p>\n<p>Showers will increase late Election Day and carry us into Wednesday morning. The greatest threat for rain is across the central and east. A few models show more than a quarter of an inch of needed rain&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=20487\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-20487\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-20487\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/GFS-rain.png\" alt=\"gfs-rain\" width=\"1086\" height=\"523\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/GFS-rain.png 1086w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/GFS-rain-300x144.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/GFS-rain-768x370.png 768w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/GFS-rain-1024x493.png 1024w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1086px) 100vw, 1086px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That would certainly help the fire situation out, but likely won&#8217;t be enough to fully take care of the problem.<\/p>\n<p>Chilly temps coming in behind this front may keep parts of eastern Kentucky in the upper 40s for highs on Wednesday. Low 50s look good for the rest of the state.<\/p>\n<p>50s will be with us Thursday and Friday as we watch a stronger push of cold diving in from the northwest. The models are coming a bit farther west with the trajectory of the cold&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=20486\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-20486\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-20486\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Canadian-1.png\" alt=\"canadian\" width=\"686\" height=\"422\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Canadian-1.png 686w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Canadian-1-300x185.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 686px) 100vw, 686px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s getting awfully close to putting down a snow flurry across the mountains of eastern Kentucky.
