Good afternoon, folks. I wanted to drop by for a very quick update on the upcoming arctic air and the system moving in for the weekend.<\/p>\n

Let’s start with the short term and roll forward. Some light snows continue to brush northern Kentucky today, with a shower or two elsewhere.<\/p>\n

Temps drop this evening and there could be another little batch of some flurries or light snow trying to develop farther south. The GFS shows a few flakes into Wednesday…<\/p>\n

This is when the arctic front arrives with gusty winds and a big drop in temperatures. The numbers by Thursday morning can drop into the single digits in the north…<\/p>\n

Thursday’s highs should range from the upper teens to low 20s, but gusty winds make it feel much colder.<\/p>\n

The weekend system continues to look pretty awesome from a meteorological standpoint. Friday starts with arctic air in place and the potential for some overrunning light mix late in the day.<\/p>\n

Temps then rise Friday night into Saturday and may hit the low 60s on a gusty southwesterly wind. Showers and some rumbles of thunder will be possible.<\/p>\n

The arctic front then moves in Saturday night and early Sunday, undercutting a pretty healthy precipitation shield. As temps drop into the teens and 20s, things could get ugly for a time. Sleet, freezing rain and some snow will all be possible. Here’s the GFS breakdown…<\/p>\n
