Today was the warmest day on record for this late in the year across the bluegrass state of Kentucky. There&#8217;s nothing more to say other than WOW! So, where do we go from here? How about we get ready to flip this pattern in a huge way.<\/p>\n<p>Showers and thunderstorms are rolling across the state this evening and a few are strong with high winds. Locally heavy rains can cause some local high water issues&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/builder.zoomradar.net\/zoomradar_weather_map\/weather_page.php?key=dlFZs5IY4VCw7bK\" width=\"560\" height=\"450\" frameborder=\"0\" scrolling=\"no\" seamless=\"seamless\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\" data-mce-fragment=\"1\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>Seasonally chilly air moves in for Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Another system moves in here late Wednesday with chilly showers. Much colder air then moves in for Thursday and Friday on a strong northwesterly flow&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=21512\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-21512\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21512\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Euro-17.png\" alt=\"euro\" width=\"436\" height=\"472\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Euro-17.png 436w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Euro-17-277x300.png 277w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 436px) 100vw, 436px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That can lead to some snow showers and flurries across the central and east.<\/p>\n<p>Our New Year&#8217;s Weekend continues to look wet as the first of two systems moves in from the southwest&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=21516\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-21516\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21516\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/GFS-Gif.gif\" alt=\"gfs-gif\" width=\"1024\" height=\"696\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Once we get past that&#8230; look out. We may see a harsh winter pattern setting up across our region and for much of the country.<\/p>\n<p>Arctic air is going to move in here by the middle of next week&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=21513\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-21513\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21513\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Euro-2-30.png\" alt=\"euro-2\" width=\"709\" height=\"526\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Euro-2-30.png 709w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Euro-2-30-300x223.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 709px) 100vw, 709px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The leading edge of that arctic air is likely to find resistance from the southeast ridge being shoved out into the Atlantic. That&#8217;s something to look for when highlighting potential winter weather events and storms acorss the Ohio and Tennessee Valleys.<\/p>\n<p>You can clearly see what I&#8217;m talking about on the European Model with systems running from southwest to northeast&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=21514\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-21514\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-21514\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Euro-3-17.png\" alt=\"euro-3\" width=\"648\" height=\"482\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Euro-3-17.png 648w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/12\/Euro-3-17-300x223.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 648px) 100vw, 648px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A tremendous amount of blocking is showing up in areas that can put the country into the deep freeze.
