To say our current pattern is active would be an understatement. From record highs to thunderstorms to snow showers, this week is bringing it across our part of the world. Believe it or not, things are about to get much more active with the potential for some harsh winter weather setting up.

Colder air slowly funnels into the state today, but this air isn’t terribly cold by any means. Lots of upper 30s and low 40s show up ahead of a late day increase in clouds. Winds are going to be absolutely cranking today and could top 35mph at times.

As our northwesterly wind flow sets up tonight and Friday, snow showers and flurries will develop in central and eastern Kentucky. Some very light accumulations will be possible, especially in the east.

Our New Year’s Weekend will feature a weak system moving on for New Year’s Eve. This will bring a cold rain that can mix with a few flakes at times…

New Year’s Day will feature more showers around as temps hang out in the 40s for highs.

The next storm system on Monday could become a strong thunderstorm producer around here…

High winds and heavy rains will be a good bet with this one.
