Good Friday, everyone. Much colder air continues to pour into the region and this can lead to a few periods of freezing rain in the north and west. This is all part of a big time battle between winter and spring that will continue to bring very active weather our way.<\/p>\n

We will continue to see a huge temperature gradient from north to south out there today. The cold air meeting up with precipitation can put down some freezing rain today across parts of the west…<\/p>\n

\"Special\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There is a smaller threat across northern Kentucky, but we may see a break in the precipitation in that region until later this evening.<\/p>\n

That leads me to the overnight and Saturday freezing rain threat. The best chance is across the north…<\/p>\n

Areas just to our west are in line for a catastrophic ice storm. While not as bad, areas to our north are also in line for a healthy amount of ice.<\/p>\n

Additional showers are likely on Sunday as warmer air gets ready to surge back in from the south. This will set the stage for a week of weather straight out of March. Highs can reach the 60s with rounds of showers and thunderstorms possible. Heavy rainfall will be a safe bet with this repeat action.<\/p>\n

In typical March fashion, winds will also be gusty.<\/p>\n

As I have been yapping about the past few days, the pattern of the last 3 winters looms large for the rest of this winter. Each of those were back loaded with snow and cold, and it’s looking more and more like this one will be as well.<\/p>\n

The GFS shows a quick return to winter after our upcoming week of Mach weather…<\/p>\n
