Your friendly weatherdude reporting for duty with an update on the big system rolling in for the next few days, and the winter pattern settling in behind it.<\/p>\n<p>Basically, I have no changes to the overall theme of the forecast. Temps this afternoon are straight outta March and not too many folks are complaining. I can flat out tell you that this weather has me spoiled and itching for Spring instead of wanting cold and snow. Does that mean I&#8217;m getting old? Don&#8217;t answer that. \ud83d\ude41<\/p>\n<p>Thunderstorms will increase across the south and west later this evening and a few of those could be strong. This is part of a big severe weather outbreak to our south and I will have your tracking tools in a bit.<\/p>\n<p>Heavy rain takes over as we get into Sunday and Monday with a huge storm system impacting our region. High winds and some thunder and lightning will also be possible during this time.<\/p>\n<p>The GFS continues to target central and eastern Kentucky for the highest totals&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=22191\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-22191\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22191\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/GFS-Rain-13.png\" alt=\"GFS Rain\" width=\"782\" height=\"717\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/GFS-Rain-13.png 782w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/GFS-Rain-13-300x275.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/GFS-Rain-13-768x704.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 782px) 100vw, 782px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The pattern will then begin to turn back toward winter as shots of much colder air sweep in here. This gets started later this week and will carry us into the first week of February&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=22193\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-22193\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22193\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/GFS-15.gif\" alt=\"GFS\" width=\"1024\" height=\"696\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With a northwesterly flow, light snow and snow shower events will periodically move in here later in the week into next weekend.
