We are dealing with a very windy change back to some winter weather here in the bluegrass state. A cold front is marching in today, ushering in periods of snow showers and flurries in the coming days.<\/p>\n<p>That front will bring a round of gusty showers through here this afternoon into the evening&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Periods of snow showers and flurries then settle into town on Thursday and carry us through Saturday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=22269\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-22269\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22269\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/GFS-19.png\" alt=\"GFS\" width=\"861\" height=\"453\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/GFS-19.png 861w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/GFS-19-300x158.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/GFS-19-768x404.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 861px) 100vw, 861px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Light accumulations are possible from time to time, especially at night. Winds are going to continue to be very gusty from the northwest.<\/p>\n<p>Those winds really crank on Sunday as a clipper drops in from the northwest. This will likely bring about a steadier swath of light snow into early Monday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=22266\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-22266\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22266\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/GFS-2-17.png\" alt=\"GFS 2\" width=\"762\" height=\"843\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/GFS-2-17.png 762w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/GFS-2-17-271x300.png 271w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 762px) 100vw, 762px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>That will be our best bet for accumulations as temps will be much colder, and the ground will have had a chance to freeze by then.<\/p>\n<p>The GFS total snowfall numbers (not snow depth) through Monday&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=22268\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-22268\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22268\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/GFS-Snow-18.png\" alt=\"GFS Snow\" width=\"943\" height=\"662\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/GFS-Snow-18.png 943w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/GFS-Snow-18-300x211.png 300w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/GFS-Snow-18-768x539.png 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 943px) 100vw, 943px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>You can definitely see how the higher elevations do much better in this type a setup.
