Good Friday everyone and welcome to a stormy day across the state. Clusters of showers and thunderstorms will roll eastward into the evening hours and these boomers will pack a nice little punch.

Breaking it down…

– Torrential rains are likely with today’s storms. Rain totals of 1″-2″ will be common for some areas with locally higher amounts. This can lead to flash flooding and that is something we will be watching closely.

– These storms may also go severe with damaging winds being the main threat.

– For the thousands of NASCAR fans at the Kentucky Speedway for tonight’s big Nationwide race… the bulk of the storms should be to the east of the track by the 7:30pm start. It will be a close call and something we will update. The weather for the big Sprint Cup race Saturday evening looks pretty darn good.

– High temps over the weekend will begin to surge toward 90 by Sunday and this should carry us into Monday with a slight chance for a thunderstorm.

– The heat will get smacked down again as another cold front moves in by Tuesday and Wednesday with more widespread showers and storms.
