Today is a crazy weather day across the state. Things start with spring and end with Old Man Winter blasting back into the region. This taste of winter won&#8217;t last very long as spring takes control again by the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Today will feature a mix of sun and clouds and a big temperature gradient to start. The southeast will likely hit the low 60s while the north drops through the 40s. Showers and a rumble of thunder may develop in the afternoon as a wave of low pressure zips across the region.<\/p>\n<p>Much colder air dives in behind this low as it strengthens to our east. Slick spots may develop on area roads.<\/p>\n<p>This is a big winter storm for the northern Mid Atlantic states into New England. Several areas may not get out of the upper 20s&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=22545\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-22545\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-22545\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/GFS-TEMPS-1-1.png\" alt=\"GFS TEMPS 1\" width=\"586\" height=\"326\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/GFS-TEMPS-1-1.png 586w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/GFS-TEMPS-1-1-300x167.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 586px) 100vw, 586px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Lows by Friday morning can drop deep into the teens, but milder winds will quickly kick in during the afternoon. It could be one of those rare teens for lows and 50s for highs kind of day.<\/p>\n<p>Highs this weekend will be back in the 60s with the threat for a scattered storm on Saturday, and a much better risk for storms on Sunday. How much phasing do we get with the northern branch? Where exactly does that phasing happen?
