A severe weather outbreak is likely to unfold across the region this afternoon and evening. This happens as a potent storm system takes aim at the region from southwest to northeast.<\/p>\n<p>Here&#8217;s a breakdown of how the day may unfold:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Warm and windy weather will be noted today as temps make a run at 80 degrees across central and eastern Kentucky.<\/li>\n<li>Thunderstorms will explode across western and\u00a0central parts of the state during the late afternoon.<\/li>\n<li>Damaging winds and very large hail will be possible with these storms.<\/li>\n<li>There is enough shear showing up for these storms to produce a few tornadoes. The greatest tornado threat looks to be across the central part of the state.<\/li>\n<li>If storms can get out on their own, a few strong tornadoes can&#8217;t be ruled out.<\/li>\n<li>The prime time for severe weather is 2pm-6pm for areas around Interstate 65, then from 4pm-midnight for the rest of central and eastern Kentucky.<\/li>\n<li>Much colder air filters in behind the storms with rain and snow showers for Thursday into early Friday.
