A SEVERE THUNDERSTORM WATCH is now out for much of central and western Kentucky until 10am EDT. Here is the watch outline and the latest warnings…

Good Sunday everyone and welcome to a stormy day across Kentucky. Rounds of rain and thunderstorms will move across the region from northwest to southeast and these boomers will pack a punch. This pattern is likely to carry us into early this coming week.

Before we get to the storm tracking toys… let’s give a breakdown of what to expect.

– Thunderstorms today will bring a double dose of trouble. Damaging winds and large hail will comprise the severe weather threat and torrential rains will bring the local flash flood threat.

– Monday should feature more of the same with rounds of thunderstorms continuing.

–  A cold front will sweep through here Tuesday and touch off more thunderstorms with a similar outcome… some severe with heavy rains.

– A lot of water may fall in many areas between from today through Tuesday with totals of more than 2″-3″ possible. This setup has me concerned for a little more than just local high water and that’s something for us to really keep an eye on.
