We are wrapping up the month of May with near normal temps and some scattered storms. That&#8217;s a pretty tame setup for what has proven to be a pretty volatile month. Now, it&#8217;s time to focus on early June and the start of meteorological summer.<\/p>\n<p>This final day of May will feature a storm or two blowing up with highs in the upper 70s for many areas&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/sirocco.accuweather.com\/nx_mosaic_640x480_public\/sir\/inmaSIRKY_.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Day one of June will feature more of the same with some scattered storms and lots of upper 70s for highs.<\/p>\n<p>Temps may spike a bit to start the coming weekend, ahead of a system diving in from the northwest. The European Model continues to show this as a big bowling ball upper low dropping in from the northwest&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=23762\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-23762\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23762\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Euro-2-7.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"448\" height=\"420\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Euro-2-7.png 448w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Euro-2-7-300x281.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 448px) 100vw, 448px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ahead of that, numerous showers and thunderstorms look to develop&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=23765\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-23765\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23765\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Euro-16.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"724\" height=\"650\" srcset=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Euro-16.png 724w, https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Euro-16-300x269.png 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 724px) 100vw, 724px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>With that type a system diving in, the same model run shows a pretty stout area of below normal temperatures into the first full week of June&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/?attachment_id=23764\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-23764\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-23764\" src=\"https:\/\/kyweathercenter.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/Euro-1.gif\" alt=\"\" width=\"1024\" height=\"696\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Highs on this same model run early next week go beyond cool and get into the chilly range for summer.
