Good Thursday everyone. We are coming off a wicked day of weather for parts of the state as, at least, one tornado and several funnel clouds slammed the Louisville metro. The tornado swept across Jefferson County causing damage to Churchill Downs and near Papa Johns Stadium, among other places.

Let’s start by saying kudos to the NWS in Louisville as I thought they were outstanding in getting the warnings out in a timely fashion. They followed up those warnings with updates on the location of the tornado and the numerous funnel clouds spotted with the various storms.

While the NWS was on their game… where was the Storm Prediction Center in all this? No watch or even an updated mesoscale discussion on tornadic thunderstorms impacting a sizable metropolitan area? I have said this a few times now… but it has been BAD past few weeks for the SPC!

Here is your daily dose of headlines…<\/P>
\n

– A cold front will slowly cross the state today. Scattered showers and thunderstorms will be possible along this boundary. The best chance for  this action will be across the east where some of the storms may be strong or severe.

– Much cooler air moves in for Friday. Temps will likely stay in the 70s for many. The warm biased GFS even shows this…



 – An isolated shower or thunderstorm will be possible Friday… especially in the south.<\/P>
\n

– The weekend looks good in terms of temps with upper 70s and low 80s again for Saturday with low 80s for Sunday. We will need to watch for some storms trying to work in from the west and northwest at some point.<\/P>
\n

– The pattern from late weekend into early next week looks similar to the one we went through this past weekend into early this week. The heat is going to try to bulge northward across the plains as clusters of thunderstorms rolls southeastward around the outer edge of the heat.<\/P>
